Brackley helped create a ‘Ribbon of Red’

Around the UK Hundreds of pledges were received in support of a call to plant swathes of poppies commemorating the final year of the First World War Centenary.

Members of the Scout and Guide movements led the way in supporting the project, now local organisations and councils the length and breadth of the UK pledged to plant poppies to help create a carpet of the red flowers in time for the centenary of the end of World War One in 2018.

Schools, groups and Individuals in Brackley and surrounding areas were encouraged to take part, simply by planting poppy seeds on a pocket of land, in their garden or authorised areas around the town where they can be seen.
