Today we visited the Paisley Pear Pub and Marston’s Inn and met with Lewis Allison, the General Manager and totally nice chap. Lewis is in the final stages of getting the new venue ready for its formal opening by the Mayor on the 29th July, which is pretty impressive given that the build only began in November last year.
Well what’s on offer?
There are two premises:
The first is the Paisley Pear pub, thoughtfully named after the historic design made famous by local lacemakers. The building references local stonework and oak but is a very modern-style hostelry. The Paisley Pear offers a great drink selection from cask ale, gins and other spirits, as well as lots of seating areas for friends and families to try out the pub menu. Specialising in rotisserie-prepared chicken as well as other pub classics, such as steaks and burgers, the menu is very much based on good food, great value and is well-presented.
Lewis is very much looking forward to welcoming the local community to the Paisley Pear. With a safe children’s play area easily accessible from the main dining area, we’re sure the pub will become hugely popular with families. However, I’m tempted to think they may want to do a little more tree screening to help mask the traffic views and noise from the A43 bypass.
The second building is a very welcome addition – a 46 bedroomed facility part of the Marston’s Inns chain. Lewis showed us the rooms – a good selection of twin, double, family rooms and fully accessible disabled rooms. All the rooms have well-made beds and quality mattresses, top end TV screens and well-appointed bathrooms. But, the best thing is they are all pristine clean. Prices for the rooms will start from £50 per night, which represents excellent value. The Inn also has two business suites, which can be opened up to make one larger facility if needed.
The Marston’s Inn construction is in a simple red brick ‘workhouse’ style with some interesting brick tooth detailing. It’s no nonsense design and I like its functionality. The car park has 99 spaces which is a big selling point for a Brackley hospitality venue!
Lewis explained the Inn will be a prime spot for the three million visitors which visit the South Northants region each year. He can already sell out Grand Prix week several times over. But I’m sure the Paisley Pear and Marston’s Inn will be a year-round valued asset on the Brackley scene – it’s what the town has been looking for.
Finally, Lewis explained that the team have been hosting some preview events prior to opening, where locals from the area will be invited to have a look around the pub and sample the new menu.
